Restoring Backup Data

Restoring a database backup allows you to recover your application data in case of accidental loss or migration. Follow the steps below to safely import your previously exported backup file using phpMyAdmin.

Step 1: Open phpMyAdmin

Login to your cPanel or local server and open phpMyAdmin. You’ll see a list of all available databases on the left sidebar.

Step 2: Create or Select a Database

Either create a new database or select an existing one where you want to restore the backup. Make sure the database name matches the one used during backup (for accurate table structure restoration).

Step 3: Go to the Import Tab

Click on the Import tab from the top menu. Under the “File to Import” section, click Choose File and select your saved .sql backup file.

Step 4: Start the Import

Once the file is selected, scroll down and click the Go button. phpMyAdmin will start importing all tables and records. When complete, you’ll see a success message confirming the restoration.

Step 5: Verify Restored Data

Once the import is successful, open a few tables to verify that your data has been restored properly. You can now reconnect your application to this database via the configuration file.

Pro Tip

Always test your backup restoration on a staging or test environment before restoring on a live server. This ensures no configuration or data conflicts occur.
